At 14:30 on 10 March 2022, the Faculty of Business Administration - International Economics (FAIE) invited enterprises and employers to participate in the Seminar titled “Evaluation of the 2022 Training Program and Learning Outcomes” for the Economics (Foreign Trade) major, with the aim of ensuring that upon graduation students meet recruitment requirements and are ready to work immediately at enterprises.

Nguyen Van Tan, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration - International Economics, introduced the training process of the Foreign Trade major to the participating enterprises, lecturers of the Faculty, and students of the Foreign Trade major. After his presentation on the training process and courses designed to achieve the learning outcomes, enterprises provided several recommendations to further enhance the output quality of Lac Hong University students. In addition to Dong A Company and Esquel Company Limited, two alumni also attended the seminar. According to Mr. Nguyen Hung Vy – Import-Export Director of Esquel Company Limited, the University should focus more on essential courses to ensure that graduates meet the requirements to become employees, such as: placing greater emphasis on English listening and speaking skills; inviting foreign lecturers; organizing clubs and presentations in English; updating informatics courses in line with social trends (reporting software such as VBA, RPA, Power BI; email drafting skills; Outlook usage); increasing the number of periods for Import-Export Operations; strengthening knowledge of Incoterms; and providing more practical training on import-export procedures. In addition, the University could cooperate with certain service companies such as Dong A and consider increasing practical training opportunities for third-year students.

Speaking at the seminar, Ms. Tang Thuy Vy – representative of Esquel Company – addressed the issue of strengthening connections between the University and enterprises. Esquel Company supports internships for students across various disciplines, specifically by allowing students to visit departments and factories. A strength of the University, she noted, is organizing CV writing workshops/sessions and mock interviews to equip students with necessary skills.

Following the contributions from the two companies, students of the Foreign Trade major also shared their opinions. Specifically, student Thang – representative of the Economics (Foreign Trade) Club – expressed the desire for the University to support access to a repository of invoices and documents for students specializing in Foreign Trade. In response, PhD Nguyen Van Tan – Dean of FAIE – stated that the Faculty’s D302 practice room has been equipped with practical materials for students, including document sets and corporate financial reports. Students may access the room to photograph these materials for study purposes.
