LHU IT Alumna Awarded a Fully Funded Master’s Scholarship in Taiwan

Studying abroad is not only an opportunity to learn in an international environment but also a journey of personal challenge, especially for students in engineering and technology fields. The story of Huỳnh Thị Ngọc Hoa, an alumna of the Faculty of Information Technology, Lac Hong University (LHU), is a testament to that spirit of perseverance. She successfully earned a 100% scholarship sponsored by an enterprise in Taiwan, completed her Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and is now able to use both English and Chinese fluently for academic study and research.

A 100% Scholarship from a Technology Enterprise in Taiwan

After graduating from LHU, Huynh Thi Ngoc Hoa pursued a Master’s program in Electrical Engineering at Minghsin University of Science and Technology (MUST), Taiwan.

Throughout her studies, Hoa received a full (100%) scholarship from WNC, a technology company specializing in network equipment and communication technologies. This scholarship enabled her to fully focus on academic study and research while also providing valuable exposure to a learning environment closely connected with industry demands.

This model of collaboration between universities and enterprises is also widely adopted in Taiwan, where higher education institutions and companies work closely together to develop high-quality human resources in engineering and technology fields.

    Research on Wireless Sensor Networks

During her academic journey, the topic that Hoa found most engaging was Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN).

Her research focused on studying and optimizing data transmission performance within wireless sensor network systems. This field plays an important role in many modern technological applications such as the Internet of Things (IoT), smart monitoring systems, and automation solutions.

Throughout the research process, Hoa received dedicated guidance from her academic supervisor. Her professor not only provided research materials and methodological direction but also regularly discussed and gave detailed feedback on each section of her research work.

These constructive comments helped Hoa identify limitations in her study, refine her research approach, and develop a more systematic and rigorous research mindset.

From Studying in English to Defending a Thesis in Chinese

Hoa’s Master’s program was primarily taught in English, allowing students to access international academic resources and research environments.

However, during her time studying and living in Taiwan, Hoa proactively learned Chinese to improve her communication and work more effectively in daily life and academic settings.

After a period of consistent study and practice, she successfully presented and defended her thesis in Chinese before the academic committee and members of the laboratory.

For Hoa, this was a particularly meaningful milestone. Being able to use two foreign languages in academic study and research not only strengthened her confidence in international environments but also opened up many future career opportunities.

A Memorable Moment in Her Study Abroad Journey

One of Hoa’s most memorable experiences during her time in Taiwan was the moment she successfully completed and presented her research.

From the early days of adjusting to a new academic environment, unfamiliar research methods, and working in an international laboratory setting, to eventually presenting her findings confidently in front of professors and lab members, the journey required continuous effort and dedication.

That moment marked not only an important milestone in her academic journey but also helped her realize how much she had grown — in terms of professional knowledge, research thinking, and confidence in working within an international environment.

The story of LHU IT alumna Huynh Thi Ngoc Hoa also serves as an inspiration for many students of the Faculty of Information Technology at LHU. It demonstrates that with strong academic preparation, language skills, and a spirit of continuous learning, students can confidently pursue and achieve academic and research opportunities in international environments.
