An International Academic Forum on Management Education

On January 7–8, 2027, the Research in Management Learning and Education (RMLE) Unconference will take place at An Lam Retreat Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City, co-hosted by Lac Hong University (LHU), Phu Xuan University, and Liverpool John Moores University (UK).

The RMLE Unconference 2027 will be held at An Lam Retreat Saigon River (Ho Chi Minh City) on January 7–8, 2027, co-organized by Lac Hong University and its international partners.

This marks the first time the RMLE Unconference series—an international research forum dedicated to management learning and education—will be held in Asia. The event is expected to convene around 45 scholars, researchers, and educators from multiple countries to exchange ideas on emerging trends in teaching, learning, and research in management education.

Unlike conventional conferences, the RMLE Unconference follows an “unconference” format, where discussion topics are proposed and led directly by participants. The program will explore a range of pressing issues in management education, including the impact of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cultural dimensions of learning, and evolving approaches to academic research and publication.

According to the organizers, prospective participants must submit a summary of up to 500 words outlining their Questions, Ideas, or Concerns (QICs) related to management education research. All submissions will undergo double-blind review before participants are selected.

Advancing Academic Collaboration for Sustainable Development

Co-hosting the RMLE Unconference 2027 reflects Lac Hong University’s growing role within international academic collaboration networks. Through research forums and scholarly exchange, the university aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainable development challenges, aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 17 (SDG 17): Partnerships for the Goals, which promotes global collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The event will also create opportunities for interaction between researchers and editors from leading academic journals in the field of management education, including the Journal of Management Education, Management Learning, and the Academy of Management Learning & Education, helping expand international research networks.

Through in-depth discussions and direct engagement among participants, the RMLE Unconference seeks to advance best practices in management education while strengthening research collaboration among universities, academic institutions, and international partners.

Perspective from a Previous Participant

“The unconference experience is very different from traditional conferences. Discussions often evolve continuously, refreshing and expanding through each session. Participating made me rethink my own work and explore new approaches to teaching and academic mentoring.”
Peggy Hedges, Professor of Finance, Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary (Canada)
